These posters are destined to be classics! Minimal, simple and also appeal to people who aren’t necessarily football fans! I certainly love them!

The FYML Speaker…

While searching for a new pair of portable speakers to invest in (Unfortunately the last were crushed beneath a tone of junk in my suitcase), I stumbled upon this innovative, lightweight option!
The FYML is designed by German company DesignAffairs. It’s a foldable; chic; portable speaker that can go were you go.
It’s the perfect on-the-go companion since it small enough to fit into any pocket, notebook or handbag for convenience.
It utilizes a film speaker of less than 0.25mm thickness, allowing flexibility of form and shape, becoming much lighter and thinner than conventional portable speakers.
This unique technology combined with its intelligent design and shape enables a full and rich directional sound and what’s more it looks amazing!
Check out more from DesignAffairs here.

Ilott Vintage Cameras...

If you’re a fan of vintage unique design, then you’ll love these restored Cameras from Ilott Vintage.

Each camera is painstakingly refurbished to pristine working condition and the stunning craftsmanship put into the exterior woodwork makes each camera exclusive.

These cameras were built to be used and not so expensive that they feel more comfortable in a safe than over your shoulder.

Not only the perfect companion on the street or on holiday but rugged and reliable enough to survive even the most extreme conditions (Argus C3 used in World War II, Konica Auto S2 in Vietnam).

My favourite? The Argus C3

I judge the book by its cover...

Everyone’s done it at some point and if you haven’t already, you will one day – You’ll buy a book based purely on its cover design. This is why it’s so important getting cover design right!

There are so many great design examples to post here but I wanted to highlight one designer in particular, Jason Booher.

‘’Jason Booher designs book covers as well as other things’’ This is the long and short of the information detailed on Boohers website… I like that.

Other than peeking through his collection of cover designs, his website holds no further information, just his designs. His work has a very Jan Tschichold-feel about it, which is probably why I like them so much!

To check out more examples head to his website jasonbooher.com You won’t be disappointed.

Mujjo Sleeve Design...

I always go for quality as opposed to quantity – from the garments in my wardrobe to my Moleskin notebooks. I like products that stand the test of time and are more importantly, products that are great quality.

When I stumbled upon Mujjo, a Dutch company known for producing the touch-screen gloves that were all the rage last winter, I took a shining to their new range of Apple Product covers.

These protective covers are produced from a unique combination of 100% wool felt and high quality leather all in a slick, clean, minimal design! Mujjo is growing fast, continues to evolve, but keeps the same passion for beautiful designs in everything they create.

Mujjo’s Dutch Craftsmanship may not be for everyone and that is just the way they want it to be - I personally love it!

Mujjo's sleeve collection is available in stores this month but you can also order online.
Go on, you know you want to… www.mujjo.com

Web Design vs. Print Design

I’m well aware that the days are long gone where a designer can comfortably specialise in one discipline.

While I have quite a lot of experience as a print designer, I'm always keen to brush up on some of the skills I haven't used in a while. That's why I made the decision to revisit my coding skills – something, I thought I’d never be able to master.

Last night I started to plan out a new website (thought I better start with my own, nobody wants a rusty designer let loose on their URL!)

It’s clean simple and has a clear navigation through the site, for my 1st dip into 'proper,' web design I’m fairly pleased with the results.

Now I’m straight onto the next build - a photography website, sneaky-peek…

...iainbaillie.com coming soon!!

Thanks,
Lynsay

Print Design :: Soh Jin Ping

Being an absolute print geek, it’s difficult to hold back my glee when I stumbled upon Soh Jin Ping. This Singapore based designer is has a wealth of stunning and inspirational work under his belt.

I’m particularly taken with his Poetics of Harmony project, where he has carefully handcrafted and assembled a minimal ink book.

The stitch bound book follows a harmonious story - each beautiful page revealed precedes one that compliments it perfectly.

Another project entitled Nyctophobia combines the normal reading system for visually-abled with braille.

The book, featuring a poem by Bill Watterson, aims to allow visually-abled readers to learn Braille by introducing blanks in between stanzas within the poem, which serves as a coded message for readers to decode.

Black ink is intentionally used to print on the black pages to visually capture the fears lurking in the dark, as experienced by the protagonist in the poem.

All in all, Soh Jin Ping is a designer you should check out as there is sure to be one of his previous projects that captures your imagination.

Thanks folks,
Lynsay
