The Disappointments Dairy 2013

I fully admit and acknowledge I’m a bit (well… a big bit) of a pessimist.

My glass is more than often half empty than full and I love nothing more than a good moan – Be it the weather; rigmarole TV; the economy; politicians; bad drivers; rude people; poor customer service; the youth of today; the cost of fuel; Ryan Air; queue skippers; Chomp bars now costing 17p; price of cigarettes; Simon Cowell; Michael Bubble; reality shows; my rapidly greying hair; traffic wardens; and so on and so forth.

If you’re of a similar disposition as me and find nothing more satisfying and amusing than having a right wholesome complaint session then The Disappointment Dairy, written by Nick Asbury and designed by Hat-Trick Design, is the perfect stocking filler this Christmas (Don’t get me started on Christmas!!!)

I had a wee chuckle to myself this morning when I stumbled upon it.

Filled with amusing downtrodden quotes such as, ‘Everything happens for a terrifyingly random reason.’’ And ‘’Wine before beer, cry yourself to sleep. Beer before Wine, cry yourself to sleep.’’ Along with a page to fill with your friends and contacts telephone numbers entitled, ‘People Who Never Call,’ this diary is pretty much a handy phrase guide for the wannabe defeatist.

Pessimist or optimist, this diary will at least raise a wee smile on your face.

You can pre-order your 2013 diary here.

The most beautiful headphones from Frends

Headphones are important for the busy music lover on the go. So why not make sure you have a pair that look stylish as well as providing great quality sound?

If you have an appreciation for solid design, then like me, you’ll love the range of headphones offered up by stylish company Frends.

Frends believe women deserve a feminine and stylish choice of headphones, one that stands apart from the masculine alternatives saturating the market at the moment and I tend to agree.

My favorite must be the Layla in Rose Gold! Beautiful.

Typography and Maps? Winning!

I love nothing more than a good bit of typography and when you combine it with maps… I’m all over it!

Check out these cracking typography map examples by Axis Maps. Not only are they accurate, but each letter used is painstakingly hand-placed taking 100’s of hours to complete.

Perfect!

The Circumflex Chair by Zoƫ Mowat.

I’ve recently been introduced to a great interior designer, ZoĆ« Mowat.

ZoĆ«’s work explores unique combinations of colour, material, and form, while continually questioning the value of objects and what it means to have them.

I love her use of colour within her pieces and if you have an appreciation for solid design and quality materials, you’ll love her work.

ZoĆ«’s Circumflex chair is by far my favourite design. Available in Walnut combined with a multitude of lively colours, this is a chair I’d proudly have in my home.

Recycling Chic

Recycling, on the whole, is a fairly boring topic. But Degross Design & Innovation are a design company that makes recycling chic!

They have produced a sustainable design project called, ULTREM LUX, where they take old glass bottles and reuse them to create beautiful lampshades.

The used bottles were discarded behind their studio and have been lovingly transformed into something entirely new.

I want the table lamp – Lovely stuff!
